Larry Buras, owner of Delta Ice, Air & Heat, Inc., had a better idea, he built a better mousetrap or should we say ice-making machine.

The idea came to Larry when he had a customer come into his ice plant with a complaint. It seemed that he, the customer, couldn't get ice and equipment for his Snow-Ball Stand. Even when he did manage to get ice, it came in a cumbersome 300 pound blocks that melted before they could be chopped up and used.

So, Larry had an idea. Why not make the ice fit into the standard ice shaving machine so people would no longer have to chop it up and waste all that ice?

He knew that this wasn't exactly an original idea and he didn't take all the credit for it, but he did take the credit for putting the idea into form and marketing it. He re-vamped and remodeled the ice machine. He will tell you that he wasn't really aware at the time just how revolutionary his machine would be to the Sno-Ball Market. That was in 1975 and he has since gone through several models and upgrades until he perfected the SNO-BLOCKŽ Machine to the fine unit it is today. The SNO-BLOCKŽ Machine freezes the ice in perfect size and texture blocks for the Snow-Ball shavers. It freezes the block from the bottom up and that is what's important, the texture of the block of ice.
